Kitchen Remodel Trends of 2023

This has been an intense year. It shouldn’t be a surprise that the kitchen remodel trends follow that as well. Check out these 10 kitchen remodel trends we are seeing for 2023.

Bold Choices

One thing that has been surprising is the use of many different styles, colors, textures, and very bold choices. If there was ever a time to paint your walls green, or get those cabinets in orange, this is the year. Often paired with extravagant stones with intense designs, we expect this style to be around for a while. A word of caution to this one though, if you are expecting to sell in the future, your bold choices may not be a buyer’s cup of tea.

Stone Slabs

One thing that has been constant throughout this years trends is the use of stone. More stone on more surfaces. From larger islands to waterfall edges, large pieces of granite, marble, or quartz makes a big statement. The newest trend is slab backsplashes. However, this one is both looks and function. No more cleaning grout or scrubbing all the crevices of textured tile. Cleaning this backsplash is just as easy as wiping down your countertop.

We are also seeing the choice of slab vary quite a lot as well. People are choosing those extravagant slabs with lots of veins, bold colors, intense designs especially those from our partner CAMBRIA

Intense Contrast

One of the biggest trends we have seen this year already is high contrast. Kitchens with the monochrome look are becoming a thing of the past. The Classic white or subtle color countertops are still popular but hardware colors like black and gold are becoming more popular with pops of high contrast colors for cabinets or appliances.

Natural Wood

Dig out your bell-bottoms and tie-dye, that look from the 70’s and 80’s is coming back this year, but in smaller amounts. Wood and wood paneling is showing up again in kitchen remodels, maybe in much smaller amounts than decades ago. Wooden ceilings, support beams, butcher blocks, and even full wood countertops are getting even more popular. It creates a dramatic look that brings a big of nature into your home.

Mixing Colors

Whether we are talking about wall paint, cabinet color, countertop color, floors, or hardware, one thing is for sure. Mixing is in. We have seen lower cabinets in different colors than the upper cabinets. Mixing stainless steal hardware with other colors like gold, copper, or black. Different patterns of granite or quartz in the same space. This trend is one that will definitely mix it up for your new kitchen.

Cabinet Creativity

Cabinet trends have been all over the place this year, but one thing is for sure, make it BOLD! From humongous drawers, intense textures, replacing cabinets with open air shelves, to removing cabinets completely. It’s a bold look you have to really commit to but it’s a risk that usually pays off.

Double Islands

Kitchens are getting larger, which is great if youre an avid cook or love entertaining because this gives you even more counter and cabinet space. Enormous islands are still very popular, having almost an entire slab of marble, granite, or quartz gives a look unlike any other. Something that has been emerging this year is double islands. This gives almost as much counter space but makes kitchens feel larger with more usable space, larger walkways, and access to more of your counterspace.

Metals: Make them Stand Out

Metals have also been changing this year. The go-to choice of stainless is fading away and people are choosing to use more unusual metals like brass, bronze, copper, gold, nickel and more. Another trend along this is the mixing of colors like using stainless for appliances and fittings but gold for faucets and other accents. Its sure to give an incredible look unlike any other.

Bar Areas

Having a designated bar space is great for entertaining. Endlessly classy and practical as well. Dry or wet bars are perfect for that spot you may not need as an every day counter space but you still want to use in some way. We have also seen these appearing in other areas of the home like the dining room or living room.

Butler’s Pantry

A Butler’s pantry can be an incredible addition to your home if you have the space. Kitchens tend to be one of the most cluttered areas of our homes because of all the different things we need and how much time we spend in the kitchen. These additions are not only great for concealing your clutter but can be a secondary prep area when entertaining or making those large family meals.

Whether you are building or remodeling, the best trend you can follow is the one you like. Don’t worry about what the experts are saying, at the end of the day its your kitchen and your dream to follow. Book an appointment today to get your dream kitchen started!
